Renovation Muiderbrug and road works A1/A6 motorway
Renovation and road works
In the period from 31 May 2010 until 31 December Rijkswaterstaat, is to carry out a renovation on the Muiderbrug on the A1 motorway. After years of intensive use, the bridge has to be adapted to guarantee the safety of road users. At the same time road works start at the A1 Watergraafsmeer-Diemen, A1/A6 Diemen-Muiderberg-Almere Stad West en A1 ‘t Gooi. Traffic congestion
The flow of traffic on the A1/A6 will be significantly affected by the road works. On 12 km motorway four narrow lanes will be available during the works and maximum speed restrictions of 70 km per hour will be in force (in both directions). Consequently the tailbacks will be considerable:
- from and to Amsterdam (A1 motorway)
- from and to Almere (A6 motorway)
- on the ring road A10 Zuid.
Rijkswaterstaat and Verkeer.advies, are taking measures for Amsterdam Zuidoost and Amsterdam Zuidas by offering car commuters of Amsterdam Zuidoost and Amsterdam Zuidas an alternative to the tailbacks. If these regular users temporarily leave their cars at home during the rush hour and choose a tailback-free alternative, they can avoid the congestion. At the same time the flow of traffic on the A1 and A6 will improve during the rush hour. This will benefit the remaining road traffic. Tailback-free alternative for car commuters Amsterdam Zuidoost and Amsterdam Zuidas Companies in the areas of Amsterdam Zuidoost, Diemen-Zuid, Amstel Business Park and Amsterdam Zuidas have given Verkeer.advies details of their staff. These employees will receive a letter at the end of May 2010 with a personalised travel card, the ‘Zuidoostpas’ or ‘Zuidaspas’ (depending on the area). As an alternative to the tailbacks, the employees will be able to use the cards on week-days from 31 May 2010 until 31 December 2010 for services such as:
- Public transport
- train travel on specific routes of the Dutch railway company NS
- bus, tram and metro of PT operators Arriva, Connexxion and GVB in the province of Noord-Holland and the southern part of the province of Flevoland
- Vanpooling
- 1st class business travel, made-to-measure
The cards specify the services which the employees can use. The employees also receive a tailored Personal Travel Advice. Do you have questions about the ‘Zuidoostpas’ or ‘Zuidaspas’?
